Offscript

Podcast

Hi, I'm Bri...and I'm Alli...and this is Offscript!

If you think about it, books are potential scripts for movies. When these adaptations happen, typically it's disappointing, because they went Offscript.

Offscript was an idea Bri and Alli, two friends since middle school, came up with on a road trip.  Both have had completely different life experiences but wanted to get back to hanging out more.  "What if we started a podcast?" and that is exactly what happened.

Offscript is fun, entertaining, and not at all professional.  If you love books, love movies, or just want to have a good time with two girls that you can relate to, check us out, we would love to have you.

Bri Daniel

Co-Host & Editor

Bri was able to leave her home state and go to Northern Arizona University to persue her dream in film.  She received a Bachelor's degree in Electronic Media and Film with an emphasis in Production.

Her ultimate career goal is to become an editor for films. Along with co-hosting and editing Offscript, Bri also is the editor for Lady Preacher Podcast. She's been editing podcasts for the last 4 years.

Bri is a bookworm who in her free time loves watching movies, reading (sometimes she's reading 3 books at once if not more), playing video games, board games, hanging out with friends and family, and trying to go on new adventures whenever possible.

Bri hopes that you can hear her passion about the art of film and her love of books throughout each episode.

Alli Lines

Co-Host

Alli knew from 5th grade that she wanted to be a teacher.  She eventually reached her goal by graduating with a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and a Minor in Literacy at Central Washington University.

Along the way, she married her high school sweetheart, Cameron.  Life moved on and they were blessed with a little girl, Riley.  Alli decided to step away from the classroom for a while to become a stay-at-home mom.  A few years later they welcomed their son, Tyler, into the family too.

In 2020, Cameron was in a motorcycle accident that unfortunately took his life and left this little family broken and unsure what the future held.

Alli has done her best at tackling single mom life along with bettering their future by going back to school and receiving her Masters degree in Learning and Technology from WGU.

This all was definitely draining, and when the idea of starting a podcast came along it was just what she needed.  Finally, she wasn't a mom, she wasn't a widow, she was Alli again.

Starting Offscript has helped her feel like herself and she hopes that you can feel her fun and bubbly side through each episode.

Favorite book?

Bri: This ones tough, but it's definitely gotta be The Great Gatsby or Ender's Game.

Alli: Other than the Harry Potter series...probably 5 Feet Apart or The Fault in Our Stars.

Favorite movie?

Bri: As someone with a degree in film, this is one of the hardest questions to ask me. But I have 3 favorites. 1. The Nightmare Before Christmas - this is the film in which I realized I wanted to be a filmmaker. 2. Donnie Darko - Love it. No other reason than I just love it. Frank is my guy. 3. Moulin Rouge - how can you go wrong with Nicole Kidman, Ewan McGregor and a musical that's very modern but set in a different time?

Alli: Probably the Lord of the Rings series since those are the only movies, I watch every year no matter what.

Best adaptation?

Bri: For sure, 5 Feet Apart. Also, surprisingly Breaking Dawn Part 1.

Alli: I was shocked with how accurate 5 Feet Apart was.

Worst adaptation?

Bri: This won't come as a surprise....the Divergent Series.

Alli: What even was Allegient...there are some bad ones, but at no point was there one thing correct about this movie...

Favorite episode?

Bri: Uhm, my fav episode would have to be...the whole Twilight series. Finally covering one of my favorite series just really was special for me, I'm sad it's over but man it was fun doing it.

Alli: This question is actually way harder than I thought it would be...as much as I cringe when thinking of our first episodes because we had no idea what we were doing, I really love it. Harry Potter 1, the kickoff of our amazing journey.  I also love Misery, my introduction to Stephen King!

Favorite place to read a book?

Bri: Under my heated blanket. Honestly, lately too, John lives on a lake, and there's something nice about being able to pause and look up at the water. And if it's raining that makes it even better for me. Give me a cup of coffee or hot cider and I'm good to go for hours.

Alli: In the summer, outside in the sunshine.  If it is cold and yuck, under the covers with the rain hitting the window...but then there is always the chance I will fall asleep!

What got us into podcasting?

Bri: It's been a hard road for me to find my way into doing what I love. I started editing for The Lady Preacher Podcast in 2020 and when that started growing I realized the niche of podcasting was a way for me to get my foot in the door and help me grow my craft. I wanted to find a way to get more podcasts in my repertoire and so one day had told Alli I had been toying with the idea of starting a podcast of my own so I could edit more but wasn't sure what to do, that's when she said hey I'd be down to do one with you and a month or so later Offscript was born.

Alli: I love the Office Ladies pod.  I think it is so fun how two friends just get to hang out and talk about their favorite thing!  What a fun way to spend your time.  So of course, when Bri brought up starting one, I jumped on it.

What's your favorite thing about podcasting?

Bri: Alli leads a busy life, it's hard for us to schedule time to hang out and so this is a built in hang out with one of my best friends.

Alli: This is a chance to just be me.  Not a mommy, not a responsible adult, just Alli.  I get a chance to actually read and watch movies I never would and hang out with my bestie and laugh for a few hours.  Totally worth it!

What book would you like to be adapted?

Bri: Ooooo that's tough. But honestly, I have 2 off the top of my head, actually 3. The more I think about it the list keeps growing. The top 3 for me would be The Chemist by Stephanie Meyer, Red Rising by Pierce Brown, and Crescent City by Sarah J Maas.

Alli: Secrets of the Tally by Halie Fewkes.  I haven't even read it all the way because our lovely Offscript books keep getting in the way, but from what I have read I love this series!  I think it would make for a great film on the big screen.

Movie/show you wish was a book?

Bri: Hmmmm....movie I think I'd want The Rover to be adapted - it's a great movie that I think there's more backstory in the characters than are told on the screen that would really enhance the story.

Alli: Once Upon a Time...there is so much potential with this story and the first few season were great!  But then I feel like they were pressured by time and gave up and used the same story over and over. I would love to have seen what they could do if it was a book.
